SEASONAL SALES STRATEGY

Merchandising Checklist.

While price, quality, service and selection attracts shoppers, good merchandising techniques help stimulate sales once the shopper is in your store.

Consider the following when reviewing your merchandising plan:

  • Use any available outdoor space when appropriate, along with banners and signage. (An active feeder in front or on the side of your store will attract customers.)
  • Display one of each of the feeders you offer. (Use ceiling hangers over your seed to display your feeder selection).
  • Host product demonstrations to create excitement and build traffic in your store.
  • Use in-store signage to explain product benefits and features of selected products. (Don't over do it.)
  • Keep the various sections of your store fresh and new by phasing through seasonal products and by rearranging the section.
  • Maximize the use of end caps, and cross merchandise complementary items. (Feed & Feeders - Bird Baths & Water Wigglers - Books & Binoculars)
  • Provide handouts and information flyers to improve your customer's backyard birding experience. ( Using a NAIWBS poster and adding local information on the back makes an excellent handout.)
